Job Overview and Responsibilities:
Staff, organize, plan and lead - Analyze manufacturing results to assure safe and environmentally sound operations and acceptable product yields.
Overall direction of the plant to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local rules and regulations.
Overall direction of the plant to ensure operation of the plant in a responsible manner in alignment with Solvay Way principles
Manufacturing practices to assure a high degree of safety and process capability
Lead the continuous improvement efforts within the plant
Ensure the cost effective manufacture of plant production
Analyze manufacturing results to assure safe and environmentally sound operations, acceptable product yields productivity, service level and cost
Participate in activities related to community outreach
Provide  support to the sales and business teams as required to meet customers’ needs
Recommend and review capital spending plans to ensure regulatory compliance and improve operating costs or capabilities.
Employee Development activities to ensure a highly trained and effective workforce
Work with Novecare Plant Managers to have consistent policies and practices
Set QHSSE standards for behavior, conditions and results.  Hold people accountable to those standards. 

Lead the effort to set and communicate QHSSE standards, objectives and action plans for the site.
Follow all site safety rules and procedures, lead by example. Participate in audit and observation programs.
Evaluate site personnel and process safety, and environmental processes for adequacy and assure compliance with governmental regulations and Solvay policies. These include DOT, OSHA, and EPA regulations.
Ensure compliance for all required HSSE training, and that there are adequate resources for normal operations and emergency response situations. (example: Media Training)
Function as Site Communications Coordinator during emergency situations.
Conduct periodic inspections to assure compliance to existing safety rules and procedures and to assess the effectiveness and need for other risk reduction activities.
Ensure all necessary permits and reports are up to date and filed in a timely manner for all Governmental, Industry, and Solvay requirements. 
Represent Solvay through daily actions that reinforce the corporate values; demonstrating personal commitment to a safe, healthy and environmentally sound workplace for employees and contractors while at all times being alert to the wellbeing of our neighbors.
Responsible for coordinating off-site reporting activities when a significant environmental spill/release.
Responsible for coordination of non-emergency external communication of HSSE related issues. 
Has executive responsibility to maintain a quality management system that meets the requirements of the ISO 9001 2015 standard

Education and Experience:
Requires a BS degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent Engineering or Chemistry discipline,
10+ years of experience in the chemical industry.  
An MBA is also a plus.

Working knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental standards and regulations, particularly related to personnel and process safety and compliance with environmental regulations regarding air, water and waste.
Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices (GAPP) as it relates to Manufacturing Plants.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Leadership skills are necessary for directing, motivating, and developing plant employees.
Negotiating skills for working with governmental regulatory agencies and customers.
Active Community involvement experience a plus.
Excellent team facilitation skills; builds teams in a collaborative work style; experience in team building and motivating others
