Research Technician

Job Overview and Responsibilities

    Report to a research scientist and support the operation of the entire R&I group
      Run, troubleshoot and maintain the fiber process service lines
        Perform routine fiber property tests including but not limited to density, strength, modulus, interface, sizing, etc.
          Perform routine lab test on a variety of analytical equipment including but not limited to SEM, TGA/DSC, FTIR, particle analyzer, Morphologi, ASE extractor,etc.
            Method development process for new analytical equipment.
              Establish new or maintain the current SOP’s pertaining to instruments in the lab
                Ability to draw sound conclusions and write technical reports based on available data
                  Apply standard safety and housekeeping practices
                    Maintaining laboratory notebook and operation records Make purchase requests and keep a record of cost-effective spending
                      Availability to work second shift and non-standard hours when needed

                      Education and Experience

                      • Minimum of an Associate degree in a technical science field

                      • Basic working knowledge of science, chemistry, and math

                      • 1-2 years analytical lab experience


                      Qualifications Preferred

                      • BS degree in Science/Engineering/Math

                      • 3-4 years of experience in a research or manufacturing environment

                      Skills

                        Demonstrated problem-solving  and data-organizing skills
                          Demonstration of technical application skills
                            Experience in a research or manufacturing environment
                              Ability to effectively communicate to peers and management
                                Ability to learn and master new operation and testing methods
                                  Strong collaboration and time-management skills
                                    Demonstrated experience in fiber/mechanical testing
                                      Demonstrated experience in SEM and optical microscopy
                                        Hands-on expertise on analytical tools such as GPC, GC, SEM, FTIR, Particle Size Analyzer, etc.
                                          Basic statistical and technical writing skills
