Job Overview and Responsibilities

As Technician for Applications Engineering you will provide labatory workshop support and undertake project work or technical support with the aim of improving the Company’s products, processes and technologies – with a particular focus on supporting customer projects.


You must be able to plan technical aspects of work with guidance from a supervisor in order to perform a wide range of day to day tasks and activities.  This is a dynamic and flexible role with many opportunities for learning.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop expertise in the handling of our products and associated processing techniques.  Evaluation of resulting parts/laminates by various methods and reporting of findings, observations and results.
  • Ensure attention to detail when making measurements is essential – as is maintaining repeatable processes.
  • Exhibit an observational approach to work and offer suggestions – for method improvements on a regular basis.
  • To have a level of competency in various relevant tasks enabling them to work without supervision, though training will be offered in key work areas.  You will in due course be expected to train other staff members in specific techniques or on specific pieces of equipment if appointed as a trainer.
  • Work in a clean, tidy and safe manner, adhering to the Company policy.  You will ensure all work areas are maintained to the highest possible standard and offer suggestion for improvement.  You will be expected to own certain areas.
  • Be involved in practical work daily as this is a dynamic role 

Education and Experience

  • Demonstrable achievement in Maths and Science subjects preferably at A-level. 
  • Relevant Industrial experience in Research and development around composite-material components would be a distinct advantage.
  • Experience/inquisitive mind towards engineering alongside evidence of using scientific approaches.
  • Recognised Trainer Qualification

Skills

  • Natural curiosity to ask questions in order to support the customers’ needs
  • Using a scientific approach you will be experienced in collecting and analysing data, drawing conclusions and making suggestions for improvements
  • Following written procedures and maintaining accurate records of all work carried out and reporting experimental results to a group/by email/verbally.
  • You will have a good understanding of materials, techniques and equipment used 

  • English: fluent
