Job Overview and Responsibilities

The incumbent is responsible for leading improvement efforts across the GBU with specific emphasis on Quality systems and data integrity.  This may include technical and project management support to improve systems impacting Customer Satisfaction levels, cost of poor quality and minimize quality risks that could result in lost revenue, high consequence quality escapes or negative impact to Solvay reputation. 
The incumbent will interact with multiple disciplines/functions within the GBU to lead improvement activities including streamlining systems, digitalization and support to new and legacy QMS (Quality Management), inspection and instrumentation systems including a LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System).  This individual will streamline KPI metrics generation and ensure data integrity across the enterprise.   The incumbent may also lead RCCA investigations, quality audits and provide Quality Engineering support as assigned. 
The incumbent will:
  • Collaborate with various GBU Directors to identify quality improvement opportunities,
  • Provide project management leadership to drive these improvement efforts and communicate as required,
  • Establish tools and techniques for systematic generation of Quality KPI metrics and data to drive improvement opportunities,
  • Unsure reliability of legacy QMS and inspection systems as well as digitalization, automation of quality/inspection systems,
  • Work to streamline process and procedural workflows within a QMS,
  • Provide leadership and oversight of RCCA’s to ensure the corrective actions are timely, robust and effective,
  • Actively lead and participate in quality risk assessments and audits.  Ensure timely, effective address of findings,
Position will handle ITAR and NIST controlled documentation along with Customer proprietary information.

Education and Experience

  • BS in Engineering,
  • 5 years minimum working knowledge as a Quality or Process Engineer within an Aerospace environment or other highly regulated industry (pharmaceutical or food – FDA; automotive – TS 16949),
  • Experience in transactional and process lean improvements,
  • Working knowledge of relational data base systems, programming, architecture and security,
  • Working knowledge of LIMS system and laboratory or shop floor instrumentation.
  • Experience in HMI programming, ladder logic and network/wireless connectivity a plus,
  • Experience with APQP procedures and techniques preferred,
  • Experience with AS-9100Rev D/ISO-9000:2015 Aerospace Quality Management systems; familiarity with NADCAP certification process (National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program)
  • Working knowledge of Composite/Adhesives Unit Operations preferred
Due to ITAR regulations, must be a US citizen or have Permanent Resident status.  


  • Possess strong, pro-active leadership and project management skills to achieve results
  • Good personnel engagement skills,
  • Good oral and written communication skills – concise presentation, easy to read and understand standards and technical documents,
  • Demonstrated skill in the development and launch of LIMS or other QMS systems that require high levels of data accuracy, performance and reliability across a multi-user enterprise,
  • Experience in working with HMI’s, ODC connectivity, macro or ladder-logic programming, program troubleshooting and instrumentation preferred,
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma tools – both lean and technical – including value stream mapping, 5S, process control and Measurement System Analysis or Gauge R&R,
  • Demonstrated experience in data analysis – statistical and inductive/deductive reasoning,
  • Working knowledge of DMAIC problem solving including 8D and FMEA methods, Good computer skills including Google docs, MS Office, Statistical software (SAS, Minitab, JMP, etc.) and report writing such as Web-reports and Crystal Reports

  • BS in Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with IT background preferred,
  • Experience in Process or Manufacturing Engineering,
  • Experience working in a high volume test laboratory,
  • Understanding of composite materials testing – mechanical, chemical and physical
  • Experience in applications generation
