Strategic sourcing analyst for Industrial

Job Overview and Responsibilities

The Purchasing Function is looking for a Strategic Sourcing Analyst covering Industrial Spend, opex and capex (1.5 Bn EUR). The analyst will report to the Category Support Manager. The position is located in Belgium.
The mission of the team is to support the global buyers’ community to define and implement successful Category Management.

The team performs market studies on Industrial Goods and Services, provides market intelligence and advanced analytics, and shares internal best practices.
The team supports the buyers in the successful implementation of Category Strategies and related contracts.
Market Studies:
  • To gather ad-hoc information on Industrial Goods or Services and analyze these data.
  • To provide:
    • A value-chain analysis
    • A competitive landscape analysis
  • To provide Total Cost of Ownership models
  • To determine disruptive trends
  • To develop a market outlook and explain risks and opportunities for Solvay
  • To structure this information in a PowerPoint presentation, to be shared with management, buyers and stakeholders
Market Intelligence:
  • To follow-up on economic and geopolitical conditions that impact trade or Solvay
  • To track metals, labor, exchange rates and other indices on a quarterly basis or as required
Advanced Analytics Support:
  • Spend data analysis
  • Financial analysis of suppliers
  • Follow-up of KPIs and targets, identify corrective actions

Education and Experience

  • Master degree in Engineering and / or Business Administration
  • Marketing Intelligence or Purchasing experience is a plus, especially experience with the Industrial Domain


Analytical mindset and strong affinity for data crunching 
Summarizing & sharing skills
Excellent analytical, problem-solving
Excellent collaboration & communication 

SAP & BW knowledge is a plus 

Fluency in English and French

Travel requirement : 0-10%
