Indirect Spend : IT Project Lead

Job Overview and Responsibilities:
Solvay Spends Smart project (S³) program is a transformational program aiming at drastically reducing our group indirect spend. The role will be hosted by the Excellence Center of Solvay Group for the 3 years program with close collaboration with the Purchasing team.  As the S³ project provides opportunity to refine and co-create renewed IT category strategies, the role is expected to gradually move towards a Purchasing/commercial focus by the end of the project.

Lead  the successful setup and delivery of the Information Technology & Systems stream within the Solvay Spends Smart project (S³). This entails full engagement in a company-wide indirect spend transformation as one of the Solvay One programs. In performing this role, the S³ IT project lead has several key responsibilities:

  • Support on the identification and structuring of key initiatives/ levers to optimize IT spend. Work together with Purchasing and Solvay Business Services (SBS) teams  to further identify commercial and demand reduction levers.Provide input on prioritization of levers per category based on value at stake, feasibility, etc.
  • Identify key enablers for successful implementation, including  risk mitigation and deployment plan. Follow-up closely on implementation of key initiatives, starting with quick wins as of Q1 2020, this includes: 
    • To interact with people in the zones to ensure local context is considered / best practices are identified and cross-fertilized; 
    • To challenge / propose governance adjustments around procurement, renewal and decommissioning;
    • To bring new initiatives ideas and/ or on already identified initiatives 

You’ll be a part of a collaborative team that leverages when needed advanced analytics and leading methodologies to deliver commercial and demand levers. We are looking for people who are passionate about Purchasing, advanced analytics and developing creative solutions within the IT profession. We also want people who are great communicators, who collaborate well with people and in teams, and who have a real desire to learn. 

Education and Experience:
  • University degree or equivalent by experience
  • At least 5 years of experience working in indirect spend purchasing, with clear focus on IT spends
  • Experience with project management would be considered as a plus 

  • Analytical skills and synthesis
  • Active listening
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written) 
  • Ability to learn quickly
  • Excellent understanding of purchasing process
  • Fluency in French and English 

Additional Information
Based in Lyon or Brussels with travel up to 50% to Lyon or Brussels
