Job Overview and Responsibilities:
The Jr. Research Scientist is an entry level position that will require the scientist to work closely with the research team in the management and execution of programs and projects.  
Daily interaction with supervisor and team members with emphasis on technical interaction, planning of experiments and goal setting. Ability to understand and communicate technical data to internal and external customers.  
This position will require 50-75% of time to be spent in the laboratory conducting experiments and helping with supervision.  Skill set will include emphasis on composite material science and thermoset chemistry.
Define, plan, co-ordinate and carry out project work to develop new and enhance existing  products to support business 
Involved with cross functional project teams to drive product development that meets market technical needs on agreed timelines
Provide technical expertise/guidance and support to manufacturing, engineering and marketing teams, ability to construct corrective actions and  devise potential path forward 
Provide leadership, mentoring and coaching to R&D technicians.  Assist R&D Manager to motivate and develop performance/productivity of these individuals
Develop and maintain a high level of competence in area of specialization, keeping abreast of all significant technology advances
Demonstrate a high degree of creativity, foresight and mature judgment in planning, organizing and guiding scientific aspects of projects 
Recognize, create and manage intellectual property within area of expertise 

Education and Experience:

BS degree in Chemistry or Material Sciences and 2+ years of experience in composites
MS or PhD in Chemistry or Material Sciences – no prior experience necessary
