Job Overview and Responsibilities:
The Technology Manager, Polymer Characterization Labs (PCL) has overall responsibility to lead the group who manages the characterization requests of Research and Development (R&D) as well as other internal and external customers at the Alpharetta site.

Position Accountabilities
Develop and lead implementation of the appropriate strategy for PCL to support the product development, method development, global alignment, plant support and quality.
Provide leadership to:
Consistently analyze using the PCL equipment to collect reliable data for scientists to support their quest to generate meaningful knowledge.
Develop new analytical techniques and propose new technology to improve the processes and the quality of the products we provide to our customers.
Demonstrate visibility and drive impactful HSE results.
Develop and meet performance plans including turnaround times.
Monitor customer satisfaction (i.e. survey) and set improvement plans.
Set direction, align resources, and provide a motivating environment for employees.  
Evaluate manpower and capital resources on a regular basis to meet the needs of the business.
Manage the capital priorities for PCL to obtain funding and meet the defined budgets and schedules.
Implement career management process for PCL Scientists/Analysts; create opportunities for personal growth and development of employees; coach employees to achieve higher performance levels.
Coordinate resource support needs for the R&D, CTD (Customer Technical Development) and manufacturing community.
Direct quality initiatives to meet internal, registrar and customer audits of the labs. Ensure timely responses to findings.




Education and Experience:
MS or PhD in Chemistry or other applicable science with appropriate experience
Minimum 10 years of progressively increasing responsibilities including several years of management experience working in a lab.



Skills:
Knowledge of process and analytical chemistry,  thermal, microscopy and physical and mechanical testing
Knowledge of ISO 17025 and ISO 9001 are preferred.
