The Researcher is responsible for supporting Additive Manufacturing product developments collaboratively with Research & Innovation and Customer Technical Development (CTD) functions for Solvay Specialty Polymers. This position is designed to deliver solutions to our customers by leveraging the product portfolio, resources, and know-how of the GBU.
Job Overview and Responsibilities
Support material development of high performance polymers by executing detailed experimental plans, preparing and submitting samples for testing, collecting and organizing data, and making experimental observations
Demonstrate the value of Solvay AM materials through benchmark evaluations
Operate and maintain relevant equipment, instrumentation and experimental techniques, incl. extruders, printers, and auxiliary equipment.
Detailed documentation of experiments and trials
Conduct preventative maintenance on laboratory and fabrication equipment, including specifying and getting quotes on parts, installations and repairs from outside resources.
Maintain a safe work environment for self and others
Any other duties required by the business.
Education and Experience
Bachelor degree in materials, polymer science, mechanical engineering, product design, design & engineering, or related fields.
Strong technical and problem-solving skills
Strong communication skills & customer-focus.
Ability to work with multi-functional team to meet customer needs
Experience in polymer additive manufacturing
2-3 years of experience in a technical position working with polymers: knowledge of polymer characterization, compounding, processing, product development, and/or customer applications development.
Strong experimental/bench and measurement/characterization skills
Hands-on mechanical skills
