Facilities Engineer

Effectively manage assigned capital and expense projects simultaneously from project concept to implementation and closure.

Develop project scope and schedules with input from R&D, maintenance, HSE, management and external sources (FM Global).

Develop project estimates using various estimating tools such as cost estimating spreadsheets and vendor quotes.

Design and Implement projects to meet all health, safety, compliance and regulatory requirements.

Lead and coordinate with onsite engineering resources to execute detailed design efforts for small capital and expense projects.

Lead and manage external engineering contractors for large capital project design efforts and to provide additional design resources during peak activity levels.

Develop engineering specifications and bid packages for construction labor and equipment.

Lead project design reviews with input from multiple departments, such as: operations, R&D, HSE and maintenance.

Develop project work plans to identify construction resources for project execution.

Develop engineering transmittals to communicate project design details to construction.

Assist Maintenance/external contractors with coordination activities for project execution.

Utilize SAP to manage project spending and equipment setup activities.

Assist Facilities Operations Managers to manage capital project and department budget spending activities.

Assist with providing start-up training to plant personnel for new technology.

Provide daily support  that require mechanical engineering.

Knowledge of Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices.

Ability to develop isometrics and process piping and instrumentation (P&IDs) drawings to communicate piping and support designs.

Development of procedures that include Standard Operating Procedures, Startup/Shutdown and Emergency operation.

Knowledge of utilities (steam, air, gases, etc)

Adhere to all safety standards, policies, and procedures. 

Provide support to key hardware/software platforms (program/revision control/archive)

Education and Experience

BS of Science in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering preferred, with relevant work experience in a manufacturing setting.

Experience with project design and project management

Work-process and documentation advocate

Ability to influence change and realize innovation

Effective communication skills – written and spoken

Ability to effectively gain and share knowledge

Ability to effectively learn and use project engineering tools such as Microsoft project and drawing viewers.

Experience using SAP preferred, not required

Experience in CAD preferred
